Assessment is an important part of my work because….

The current assessment focus of my work is:

The English Language School Board of Prince Edward Island Canada has just completed its first year as an amalgamated board. We oversee all aspects of public education for the ELSB, aligning the board’s vision, strategic plan and operations so that each student’s learning progresses as a result of purposeful instruction and assessment in the classroom. While the first year has been largely devoted to governance at the board level, the instructional staff have been developing a student achievement system that fulfills our commitment to teaching the provincially approved curriculum while ensuring policy, products and processes support the mastery of ‘key learnings’ along a ten year continuum. Formative assessment is as the heart of this work.
