Tamara Hubley-Little is the Leader of Curriculum Delivery at the English Language School Board of Prince Edward Island. Since 1993, Tammy has taught pre-school, secondary, and post-secondary education in private and public sectors in England, Norway and Canada. She completed a Doctorate of Education at Durham University, England in 2000.

  Assessment is an important part of my work because….

Tammy first became interested in assessment for learning as a lecturer in the FE sector in England where she received qualifications as an assessor for various awarding bodies. Since returning to Prince Edward Island, Tammy has worked as a sessional lecturer, teacher, policy analyst and researcher, administrator and senior board manager. Currently, Tammy is collaborating with stakeholders and colleagues across the Island to re-imagine student achievement.

  The current assessment focus of my work is:

The English Language School Board of Prince Edward Island Canada has just completed its first year as an amalgamated board. We oversee all aspects of public education for the ELSB, aligning the board’s vision, strategic plan and operations so that each student’s learning progresses as a result of purposeful instruction and assessment in the classroom. While the first year has been largely devoted to governance at the board level, the instructional staff has been developing a student achievement system that fulfills our commitment to teaching the provincially approved curriculum while ensuring policy, products and processes support the mastery of ‘key learnings’ along a ten year continuum. Formative assessment is as the heart of this work.
