Dr. Shelly Pepler works with the Nunavut Department of Education as Executive Director, Curriculum and School Services Division. Shelly’s responsibilities include overseeing bilingual and bi-cultural curriculum and resource development, implementation and assessment in Nunavut’s schools. This work also includes helping build teacher and leadership capacity throughout the territory’s schools. An exciting major literacy initiative just launched for Nunavut schools also falls under Shelly’s responsibility and will begin next school year. Shelly is eagerly looking forward to working with her regional office colleagues on this literacy initiative and its goal to ensure all students in Nunavut have the opportunity to graduate with high levels of proficiency and confidence in the Inuit language and English or French.
